Sometimes, iCloud removes documents from devices if they run out of disk space. This problem mainly occurs after system updates or large app updates when the operating system temporarily needs more space. Unfortunately, we do not have any influence over this.
Mac
- Go to System Settings › *Your Account* › iCloud.
2. Deactivate “Optimize Mac Storage” (it's usually turned on by default).
3. Restart your Mac.
This change will prevent iCloud from occasionally deleting and re-downloading content, optimizing storage and potentially causing the problem.
iPhone/iPad
If you're also encountering this problem on your mobile devices, we recommend force-restarting (cold-booting) your iPhone and iPad. To do so, please follow the instructions provided by Apple's support team:
iPad instructions
iPhone instructions
Additionally, please check how much internal storage space you have left on your iPad/iPhone in Settings › General › iPad/iPhone Storage. If you have almost reached your storage limit, please make some storage space.
If the problem still persists, please go through all the steps in our iCloud FAQ.
